Catch 23 Jumps to 2nd Place with 71 Pound White Marlin

After two days of rough seas, 79 boats were able to make it offshore today for day six of the extended White Marlin Open. Shortly after the scales opened, angler Trey “Cricket” McMillan from Charleston, SC aboard the Catch 23 brought his white marlin to the dock. With a weight of 71 pounds, this fish currently sits in second place and is worth an estimated $379,000. In addition to their 2nd place white marlin, Catch 23 is also in first place for release points as well as winning the Daily Dolphin category with their 22.5 pounder. Billfisher remains in first place for their 72 pound white marlin caught by angler Dan Gough from Ocean City, MD. If it holds in first place, it’s worth an estimated $3.9 million dollars.

In the tuna division, Special Situation has secured the daily tuna category for Saturday with their 50.5 pound fish caught by angler John Phelan. This fish is worth just over $49,000. A 53 pound tuna was also brought to the scales today by twelve year old angler Payton Weber on the JuJu which has them tied for third place in the T1 added entry level. 

The Barbara B remains the only boat to bring a blue marlin to the scale, and they are still sitting in first place for their 929.5 pound catch. Caught by angler Drew Osmeyer from Timonium, MD, his catch is worth an estimated $1.2 million dollars. 

In the overall tuna category, the leader board remains the same with a 95 pound tuna caught on the Mama C, a second place tuna weighing 92.5 pounds caught on the No Limit, and a third place tuna caught on the Don’t Ask weighing 61 pounds. 

Not only does the Barbara B currently sit in first place for their blue marlin, but is also in first with their dolphin weighing 32.5 pounds. RoShamBo is in second with a 27 pound dolphin, and Sweet Freedom is in third place with their 26.5 pound dolphin.
